Borrower Support Fund (FWK)

Do you have a mortgage that’s taking up a big part of your budget?

What is the Borrower Support Fund (FWK)?

The Borrower Support Fund (FWK) is a government program operated by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK).
It was created to help people who are struggling to repay their mortgage loans in Polish złoty (PLN).

➡ The program involves temporarily taking over the payment of part or all of your loan installment.
It’s not a grant — it’s an interest-free loan with a deferred repayment period.
➡ The funds from FWK do not go to your account — they’re transferred directly to your bank, which granted the loan.
➡ This gives you time to stabilize your financial situation, without the risk of arrears or debt spirals.

The Borrower Support Fund is a safe and structured form of mortgage assistance.

Who can apply?

You can benefit from the FWK program if you meet at least one of the following conditions:
➡ You’re unemployed or have lost your main source of income.
➡ Your monthly loan payment exceeds 40% of your net income.
➡ After paying your loan installment, your income does not exceed PLN 2525 (for single-person households) or PLN 2057.50 per person (for multi-person households).
➡ Your financial situation has significantly worsened (e.g., divorce, illness, loss of a co-borrower).

The program is primarily intended for people whose financial circumstances have deteriorated substantially.

How much support can you get?

The maximum support amount from FWK is PLN 3,000 per month.
The money goes directly to your bank to cover your mortgage principal and interest payment.

Support can be granted for up to 40 months (just over 3 years and 3 months).
This means you can receive up to PLN 120,000 in total during the program period.

Funds from the FWK:

  • are not taxable,
  • do not affect your credit score,
  • and are not considered income under social assistance regulations.

How does repayment work?

Repayment doesn’t start immediately – you get 24 months of relief after the support period ends, giving you time to organize your finances.
➡ Repayment is spread over 144 installments (12 years).
➡ The installments are interest-free – you only repay what you received.
➡ If your financial situation worsens during repayment (e.g., job loss), you can apply for postponement or rescheduling.

You get two years of peace and twelve years of interest-free repayment.

Debt forgiveness

If you make at least 100 timely payments (about 7 years and 4 months), BGK will forgive the remaining 44 installments.

That means you can have up to 30% of the total amount written off.

Example:
You received PLN 90,000.
You repaid 100 installments = PLN 62,500.
The remaining PLN 27,500 (44 installments) is automatically forgiven.

You don’t need to apply separately – forgiveness happens automatically based on repayment data sent to BGK.

After 100 on-time payments, the rest of the debt (up to 30%) is automatically forgiven – a reward for consistency.

Which loans qualify?

➡ Mortgage loans granted in Polish złoty (PLN).
➡ For the purchase, construction, or renovation of a home or apartment.

The program does not cover cash loans or foreign currency loans.
FWK applies only to PLN-denominated mortgage loans.

  2. Fill out the application form.
